| Watermelons and Contests |
Both Harper and I took the weekend off of the computer. Well, I guess he didn't really take it off as he still likes to walk up to the computer desk and bang on the keyboard when I'm not looking. He's getting pretty good at doing things when I'm not looking. In fact, that's how most of our days are spent, looking for things to do when dad's not looking. Climbing on the chairs to get on top of the table, taking all of the pots out of the cabinet, putting dad's keys in the dog's water bowl...  Here's our first experience with watermelon. It's alright. But enough with the swimming and watermelons and fun. It's back to work. Tomorrow, training resumes for the 30 Day Challenge after a nice weekend off. I've been having some success with gaining referrals for CashCrate. I've been haunting a few different forums promoting it - one of the many doing this - but despite that, have gotten a few referrals. Not an avalanche of referrals, but a few - enough to keep me going. I'm about to hit the minimum payout level for Hits4Pay. I have the most referrals on there out of the programs that I'm using - but I think I'm going to earn more on CashCrate as things pick up there. I'm still debating whether I am going to continue with Hits4Pay - it just takes a while to earn there and I'm not sure if it is worth the effort. One thing I haven't tried yet on this blog is a blog contest. I've seen all sorts of different contests - on the big sites where the prizes can be pretty nice, to the smaller sites where you might win a review (and a coveted 'link') or a few bucks. I think I'll be running a contest sometime towards the end of the week, just have to work out the details. So be on the lookout! And as Ed says, "Speak soon." | So much to do, so little time - Associated Content, Facebook and the 30 Day Challenge |
So I have a lot on my plate. Harper does too - he's busy messing with the dogs and causing havoc in general. Today the 30 Day Challenge officially kicked off and I've spent a lot of time reviewing the material and doing the 'homework' assigned for today which consists mainly of brainstorming ideas for niche sites. There's still time to try it out - it'll just take a little work to get up to speed, but you could do it if you wanted to. Yesterday I was driving and listening to NPR and heard a story about people being addicted to FaceBook. Now I've been on Myspace and did it for a while, but became rather bored with it and got tired of my account being constantly flooded with crap and spam. Now I don't know if this is going to happen on FaceBook - but I'll tell you this - I really like it. It's a really neat way to interact with friends and other people. It's definitely working it's way into my daily online routine. If you want to add me as a friend on FaceBook - here is my profile - add me as a friend and let me know you're coming from my blog. After I heard the story on NPR - I also came across this video in the 30 Day Challenge Forums. It's one of the founders of Facebook speaking to a large group of developers (I know, who cares if you aren't a geek?) about how FaceBook is basically starting a revolution in how information travels. I'd consider myself a semi-geek so I found this video super interesting, but I think most anybody interested in how the internet works would find it informative. Though I guess, if you're interested in that you're probably a geek or a semi-geek as well. Ok. Despite having all of this new stuff to work on. I'm determined to continue the path that I had been traveling already as well. By that I mean I'm going to spend some time today catching up on some other things like writing some articles for Associated Content, updating my blogs, and completing some offers on CashCrate and Treasure Trooper. I think I have some ads to click on in Hits4Pay as well. I haven't written a whole lot of articles for Associated Content in about a week. But I got a few more offers, including a couple that were over 5 bucks (I'd been averaging $4.50) so that kind of sparked my interest to write some more today. I'm hoping to kick out 4 or 5 articles tonight. If you like to write check out AC. It's a great way to make a little extra cash - plus it always feels good to get paid for something you write. I'd say it takes me about 20 minutes to write a decent article on AC, but it's hard to sit down and write article after article - so I probably average 2 an hour which comes out to 9 or 10 bucks an hour. That's not too bad - I guess I could go get a job at Dairy Queen and not make that much - or I could turn on iTunes and write a couple articles. Hmmm...decisions decisions. Wondering what kind of stuff you can submit to AC? Well, basically everything. Here's my Content Producer Page. | Do you hear that? Or is it just me? |
Yesterday Harper went to Riley's birthday party. He came home with a few toys, including a little train that's also a whistle. Of course I see him walking around with it today so I blow into the whistle a few times for him. I gave it back to him and about ten minutes later it started. Of course everytime he learns something new his mom and me praise him and tell him good job. With this new accomplishment that lasted all of oh, 42 seconds. And unfortunately, that was about two hours ago. You can't take it away from him - he won't have that. If I try to trade toys with him he just takes whatever it is I want to hand him, and holds the whistle with his mouth, blowing into it the whole time.
I've begun thinking of ways for the train whistle to disappear. I've never plotted the death of a toy before. Do I just throw it out? Put it on a high shelf? How do I distract the kid? Or should I bury it in the desert, this is Vegas afterall. Maybe I can just disable the whistle.
Seeing as it's impossible to actually concentrate with this whistle - I'm not even attempting to write any articles besides this blog post. For the past hour I just opened a few windows in my browser for Treasure Trooper and Hits4Pay. That's one reason I like these programs - I can mindlessly click on some ads and not have to concentrate, but at least I make a few bucks. And I don't even have to stay on the computer - just open an ad (most have to be open for 30 seconds) and come back in a little bit. I can roll around on the floor with the kid for a little while and that's ok. Every once in a while I just reach up to the computer and click on the next ad - then it's back to banging on the drums or blowing in the whistle or dumping all the blocks on the floor, whatever the boss tells me he wants to do.
Editing the blog or writing some articles will just have to wait for bedtime.

| The Skinny on Treasure Trooper |
Today I spent a good hour reading through and exploring the Treasure Trooper site. I completed 3 offers good for $2.00. That took me about 20 minutes to complete the three offers - the rest of the time I was checking out the store and reading through other options. For each offer you complete you get a coin - those coins can be traded in for things such as referrals or even things like an ipod or xbox 360. Not bad - though I think it would take a while to save up for one of those.
I like Treasure Trooper overall - and they have a ton of offers to complete. I signed up with 3 survey sites and made $2.00. There are offers that pay as much as 30 or 40 dollars - but there a little more involved than I want to be. I'm happy for now with the 1 or 2 bucks for my information. Though be sure to set up a gmail account to use for completing the offers. You're going to get hit with some spam - so I just set up a gmail account specifically for this program.
I don't know if I could do more than 3 or 4 offers a day as there are a lot of ads to look at. It's like any other pay per click program in that for each offer you get bombarded with a ton of ads to go through to complete the offers. But, where as with Hits4Pay you get 2 cents for every ad, on Treasure Trooper you get 50 cents or a couple of bucks for clicking through a large group of them.
So I'll probably spend 10 or 20 minutes a day on there completing a few offers. It's just a couple of bucks a day, but it'll add up without too much effort. If this review has your interest peaked and you want to check it out - please use one of my links to sign up, I'd appreciate it! Good Luck.

| Hey what's that? |
Mom took this photo a couple of days ago - it's not at the pool, but a park. Harper's on the left and that's his friend Riley who's two. I thought this photo was pretty funny when I saw it.
We've been swimming the last few days since it's been so hot. We got Harper one of those little baby intertubes that he can sit in and float around the pool in. At first he was a little hesitant about the pool and clung to mom pretty tightly, but now that he's getting used to it, he's starting to really enjoy it.
It's hard to find a good time to go. About the only time we can go is around 4 oclock because the sun is low enough that part of the pool is shaded, but early enough that Harper isn't too cranky and ready to sleep.
He gets a big kick of me jumping into the pool and making it wavy. When the waves hit he kicks his legs and bounces in his tube - it's pretty funny.
Well here's the list of programs that I'm going to be focusing on. These are the ones that I've tried and that I like. Some of them are relatively new, while some I've been doing for a little while. Again - I think the real way to make money at these is by doing a few of them at the same time, and try to get some referrals. I've got 18 referrals for Hits4Pay and about 12 for DealsNCash. Some of them like Adbux and Clixsense I've only just started and have one or two referrals so far.
I'm going to categorize them in 3 categories: Pay to Read, Pay to Write, and Network Marketing.
Let's start with pay to write.
Pay to Write
Associated Content - 3 articles published for $14.50 and 3 referrals.
I've been talking about Associated Content a lot lately. I really like this one - it's actually taps some creative juices rather than just clicking on ads or something like that. It's one of my favorites out of all the programs.
Pay to Read
All of these programs work the same in that you are paid to look at ads, or like Treasure Trooper - take surveys or something similar. The important thing to do with these is to get some referrals as that increases your income without having to do too much yourself, plus there are only so many ads you can look at. I cancelled my DonkeyMails Account today - it was just not up to par with these others. There were a lot of offers - but I got tired of them cluttering up my email and you are paid just fractions of a penny for each ad. Not worth the time in my opinion.
These others are easy to use, and what I usually do is open up a few browsers at one time and open up a few of these sites. So it only takes me a few minutes to look at all of my daily ads.
Hits4Pay - 18 referrals.
DealsNCash - 12 referrals.
Adbux.org - New, 2 referrals.
Clixsense - New, 2 referrals.
TreasureTrooper - Newest, a little different format - keeps it interesting.
Network Marketing
GDI - Global Domains International.
I still think that GDI has the most potential out of all of my programs. I have a website with a video on it that explains how it works. The site is http://www.cademarketing.ws (Cade is Harper's middle name). That's part of the program that you get your own .ws website when you start this program.
Anyways - those are the moneymakers I'm going to be using heavily. Hopefully I can get a few readers to sign up for them as well and help me out in my project. Other programs I'll still be using are of course my t-shirts on CafePress and things like Adsense in which I'm making a little bit - hopefully it will go up as my traffic increases.

| Program Updates |
I wanted to write a quick update on which programs I've been using the last few days - which ones I like and which ones I don't.
Pay to Read
Hits4Pay
Hits4Pay is a Pay to Read/Click program. For every email you read you get 2 cents. Not much, but the key is to sign up other people to read as well. I have about 20 people signed up - so I get 1 cent for every ad that they read. I also get 1 cent for every ad that somebody they sign up reads. Generally I open up the ads in a browser while I'm doing something else and every minute or so I go back and click on the next ad after I get credit for each ad. You don't make a ton - but it does ad up as your network grows and it only takes a few minutes a day anyways.
DealsNCash
DealsNCash is owned by the same company that does Hits4Pay. It works the same way, but you for some of the ads you will receive up to 5 cents. It only pays on 1 level though, instead of two.
One of the biggest reasons I like Hits4Pay and DealsNCash is that both sites are super easy to navigate and both are very clean and simple to use. The exact opposite of that is DonkeyMails. Their site is confusing - there are quite a bit of offers, but you only get paid fractions of a penny for each read. So in the end it takes a lot more time than the other sites and you make less money.
In testing still - ClixSense and Treasure Trooper. Updates to come.
Pay to Write

I've had my first 3 articles accepted for payment for a total of $14.50. The money has already been deposited into my PayPal account - what else can you say!? Excellent.

| Day 18 - Project 100 |
Vegas is hot in July. Scorching. And I'm a tour guide. We've been showing family the sites the last few days, playing tourists on the strip.
I haven't had much free time to work on this - but in the moments that I do I've been placing advertising to increase my affiliate network. Also - I've submitted more articles to Associated Content - but I'm still waiting for any offers. I have been having fun trying to come up with ideas, it's tough sometimes, but it's a good exercise.
I need to increase my affiliate network if I want to make any real money doing this stuff - so I've been placing a lot of ads, mostly for GDI, but also for Hits4Pay.

| Day 17 - Project 100 |
It's been over a day since I've posted - I feel like such a slacker! Hah. We have family in town - so it's been hard for me to get the time in on the computer that I really need to. Even though I haven't posted, I've been doing some other things for this project when I do get time.
It's hard when you have people come visit you in Vegas. I've lived a lot of places - and most of the time, like when I lived in San Antonio somebody comes, you show them the Alamo and then you go back home. Here in Las Vegas, it's like, ok, let's go to the strip. Home? Well, it's only midnight, things are just getting started. There are so many things that people want to see when the come visit you and you live in Vegas. Also, I thought I was getting more popular with friends and family - but I think this city might have something to do with the increase in family visits.
Anyways - I've been working on promoting the blog and trying to increase my traffic. I have noticed that there's been a decline in the number of sign ups and referrals I've been getting since I started the blog. I think it's mainly because I hadn't been promoting the programs as much as when I first started - and I've been focusing on shifting focus to this page.
There are three programs that I am really happy with and want to point people towards. Quick update - so far I'm not impressed with DonkeyMails ( <---no link even! ). I just started that one, but not too impressed yet, I'll let you know if that changes. There are three programs that I do like a lot. And the cool thing is that they're three different types of sites. A pay to read, a pay to write, and a referral program.

| Hits4Pay - How to Turn $0.02 into $50 |
The first thing I did when I started this project was to sign up for these Pay To Read Sites. They take hardly any effort at all and you can start earning money immediately. What these sites, like Hits4Pay do, is pay you anywhere from 1 cent to 10 cents to look at ads sent to you through your email. You sign up, they send you some ads, you look at them and your account is credited. Oh yeah, and don't forget that a lot of these sites pay a sign up bonus - for example Hits4Pay gives a $10 bonus for signing up.
Now I know, a penny or two, isn't much. But another way to make money on these sites is by referring other people. So let's say I refer you to Hits4Pay and you sign up and begin looking at emails, I get paid for all of the ads that you look at as well as the ones I look at. Not only that, but anybody that you refer, I get paid for them as well. So you're looking at 2 levels of affiliate earning for Hits4Pay. Not all sites pay 2 levels, most only pay 1.
I think the real key to earning money on these sites is to sign up for more than one and get your referrals to sign up for multiple sites. I spend about 5 - 10 minutes a day on a site like Hits4Pay. And the great thing is, I usually open it up in one window and look at ads while I'm doing something else in another window. I just check in about every 30 seconds or so I can move onto the next ad.
2 weeks into this project I have about 20 referrals, mostly from a simple banner I placed on a blog. Hits4Pay sends me anywhere from 5 to 8 emails everyday - which equals about 15 cents a day for my viewing ads. But I also make another 80 cents or so from my referrals. So all in all, I'm making a dollar a day on Hits4Pay. Not much, but remember, I'm putting in about 5 minutes of work everyday looking at emails. And think about what will happen as my referral base grows.
Now, combine that with other sites - like DealNCash (same owners as Hits4Pay) - and it'll start adding up. There are a ton of these sites out there and I'll post them here as I try them out. My goal is to make a few bucks here, and a few bucks there and let them all add up to a larger payday. For now - start with these and lets start getting some checks!
Oh yeah - a quick hint: when you sign up these sites give you a list of categories of ads you can view. You have to choose 10 categories but can go up to 25. Sign up for 25 and make sure to sign up for the "online business" categories as these are the ones for which you will receive the most emails.
Another site that pays for views is Adbux.org. They have a great example on their page that explains just how you'll make money on their site at 1 cent an ad view.
You click 10 ads per day = $0.10!
10 referrals click 10 ads per day = $1.00!
Your weekly earnings = $7.70!
Your monthly earnings = $30.80!
The above example is based only on 10 referrals and 10 daily clicks. Some days you will have more clicks available, some days you will have less. What if you had more referrals? What if there were more ads available?
Now 30 bucks isn't much, but for 5 minutes a day?
Also, if I have 4 sites each earning me 30 - 50 bucks, then by the end of the month I've paid my cable/internet bill, cell phone bill...you get the point.
The last of my first four: ClixSense. Pretty much the same as all of the previous sites - like I said, they might not pay huge individually, but put them all together and you're checks will get fatter!
